Our mission
About Jain eLibrary
A free, AI-powered digital repository of Jain scriptures and modern scholarship.
The Jain eLibrary is an open, non-profit initiative to preserve and make freely accessible the vast literary heritage of the Jain tradition. Over decades, lay scholars, monks and institutions have produced hundreds of editions, translations and commentaries — many of them now rare or out of print.
What we do
- Digitise scanned editions and palm-leaf manuscripts.
- Index every page for full-text Quantum Search.
- Ground a conversational AI (JainGPT) in the verified corpus.
- Welcome contributions from users worldwide via our OCR pipeline.
Our four AI features
JainGPT, Quantum Search, the Navigation Chatbot and the OCR Engine are deeply integrated into the portal — no external redirects, one unified session.
Governance
The library is overseen by an editorial council of scholars representing the Digambara, Svetambara, Sthanakvasi and Terapanthi traditions. Sources are cited with full provenance; corrections are welcomed.
